These scribbly images might seem very chaotic, but in fact they are very precisely measured. They could also be called “Recoordinated Electroencephelographs” because that is just what they do. They re-coordinate EEG data by associating two different channels with one other rather than with the time value that usually runs along the X axis. Mirroring the temporal ambiguity of dreams, time here is effectively left out: there is a starting point and an end point, but the process of getting from one to the other is not at all direct. 

Ces images gribouillées peuvent sembler très chaotiques, mais sont en réalité très précises. On pourrait aussi les appeler «électroencéphalogrammes coordonnés» parce que que les données EEG sont re-coordonnées en associant deux canaux différents l’un à l’autre plutôt qu’avec la valeur temporelle qui court habituellement le long de l’axe des abscisses. Reflétant l’ambiguïté temporelle des rêves, le temps ici est effectivement laissé de côté: il y a un point de départ et un point final, mais le traitement permettant de passer de l’un à l’autre n’est pas du tout direct.
